calsotsThe other day following a comment on the page fan on Facebook for the calçot. I started doing a little research on it, reaching the following conclusion.

The calçot. It is an onion that is sweet to the taste and aphrodisiac in sensations. Yes! It is said to have aphrodisiac qualities.  Perhaps this magical onion contains an ingredient that means that after a good calçotada everyone is satisfied and with an excessive attraction to the opposite sex ( wine can also intervene here. ) or it will be the calçot sauce that, together with the calçots, creates the effect so sought after by all cultures over the years.

Apart from this quality, like any onion we are faced with a combination of vitamins and mineral salts that cannot be missing in any diet.

  • Water: 90% (before being roasted)
  • Calorie intake: the minimum expression
  • Vitamins: predominantly group B
  • Minerals: Calcium, Iron, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus and folic acid.

And if all this is not enough, the following benefits are attributed to our body:

  • Contains anti-cancer agents
  • Great digestive and diuretic.
  • Toning.
  • A great food rich in fiber.

And something that I'm sure escaped me, Calçot is a food that we cannot abandon in our diet.

Side Effects: First of all the side effects of calçot are natural, but it is advisable not to swell with calçots if in the following hours, we have a family, work or similar meeting. Since it is easy for us to generate a lot of gases. 😛
